It’s no secret that here at Visual Impact Promotions, we love our inflatables! They are a great way to get your message pumped up and airborne.
Well we aren’t the only ones that feel this way. A lot of people like visually stunning, airborne items. In fact, people like them so much that they sometime jump right in to be a part of it all. Don’t be surprised if sometime this summer you see some hot air balloons floating around. While these balloons are now used mainly for entertainment purposes, they were originally created for travel.

Umbrellas. Here at VIP, when we think umbrellas, we think about promoting your name to people walking by your outdoor seating or your promotional booth at the beach. We think about golf game and promotional give-a-ways.
However, most people don’t think about an umbrella until they need one. So what else is there to this little piece of material that we frantically look for after a few raindrops hit us or once we discover a sunburn on our skin?
According to Wikipedia, the word “umbrella” evolved from the Latin umbella (an umbel is a flat-topped rounded flower) or umbra, meaning shaded or shadow. An umbrella typically refers to a device used to protect us from the rain, while the term parasol usually refers to an item that protects you from the sun. Umbrellas can further be divided into two categories: a fully collapsible unit that gets small enough to carry in a backpack or handbag and the non-collapsible version in which the support pole cannot retract (think beach umbrellas). Here at VIP we deal with tents everyday. We focus on convenience, durability, and most of all – visual impact.
However, tents have had a place in society for thousands of years, even stretching back to biblical times. The Ancient Hebrews, including Abraham, Isaac, and Moses lived a nomadic lifestyle. This meant that they were constantly moving from place to place and while doing so, they lived in tents. The sacred place where the Ark of the Covenant was kept in was called a tabernacle, which translates to “tent” or “place of dwelling.”
If we fast forward a few thousand years, we can see that tents were still in use, this time in a medieval setting. Knights would take them on hunts and use them as command bases during times of war. Tents were also set up during tournaments so the knights had a place to prepare for competitions. You can imagine that the art of promotional tents was in full swing as tournament vendors vied for attention from the crowds in order to sell their food, mead, and other wares.
